Old Duck Club
Description
The Old Duck Club property is located south of Cottageville off Jacksonboro Road in Eastern Colleton County. The landscape is a diverse game-rich habitat for ducks, deer, and turkey. The upland acreage consists of a mixture of natural pine, mature hardwoods, and live oaks scattered about the landscape. The current owner has maximized the potential for this manageably-sized property by creating wildlife openings, established shooting lanes, and a 3.5-acre field, just to name a few improvements.
Water features include a 2-acre pond that acted as a supplemental water source during duck season; this could easily be expanded to provide a much larger water feature that could serve as a backdrop for a permanent residence or weekend hunting lodge. There are 68 +/- acres of flooded wetlands known as “Logging Savanna”, this area provides an ideal habitat for wintering waterfowl. Some of this area is open water with the balance consisting of flooded timber. On the north side of the savanna, there is an open bay gazebo complete with a fireplace that was once used as a gathering site for duck hunters before and after a hunt.
